Surrounded by fourteen lions in the violet dawn of Ruaha National Park, I stood atop our Land Rover, mesmerized by the ancient dance of predator and prey. I brought my fifteen-year-old daughter, Teal, to Tanzania to show her a different world—a world where death is only one step away from life. In the midst of her fear and wonder, I discovered more than just wildlife… I began to understand the delicate balance between fathers and our teenage daughters, and the wild paths that lead us back to each other.
